Life-Orientation-Test-Revised
LOT-R
General
The revised version of the LOT-R contains 10 items: three positively formulated items (1, 4, 10) in the sense of optimism; three negatively formulated items in the sense of pessimism (3, 7, 9); and four filler items (2, 5, 6, 8), which are to be assessed on a five-point response scale from 0 (strongly disagree) to 4 (strongly agree). The evaluation is carried out separately on the two scales optimism and pessimism. It takes about five minutes on average to complete. The LOT-R can be used in both research and clinical settings. Both individual and group testing is possible.
Operation Area
The LOT-R was developed as a self-report instrument to elicit individual differences in generalized optimism vs. pessimism.
The test is available free of charge at www.psychometrikon.de.
