Somatic Symptom Scale 8

SSS-8

General

The SSS-8 is a short version of the PHQ-15 (depression module of the Patient Health Questionnaire). The SSS-8 includes eight questions about the occurrence of somatic complaints in the past seven days. The five-point response scale ranges from 0 (not at all) to 4 (very much). The interpretation of the sum scores is used to determine the severity of impairment due to somatic complaints and can facilitate the diagnosis of somatoform disorders. The completion time is approximately one minute.

Operation Area

The SSS-8 was developed as a brief self-assessment instrument of frequent somatic complaints and the resulting psychological impairment.
